International Students

Visa and UKBA Requirements

Students from outside the EU need a Visa to study in the UK. This will either be a Tier 4 (Child) Visa or a Tier 4 (General) Visa.

In order to gain this Visa students need to score 40 points awarded as follows:

  • 30 points: Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS)
  • 10 points: Maintenance and Funds Test

Albemarle College will issue a student with a CAS once they have:

  • been interviewed by one of the Principals (either in person or by Skype)
  • provided the relevant qualifications (including English Language, if required)
  • paid the appropriate fees
  • shown that they can fulfill the maintenance requirements for the duration of their course (academic fees and living costs)

Once a student has enrolled, the college will help with adjustment to life in the UK, including registering with a doctor, opening a bank account and applying for student discount on London Transport.

Tier 4 visa holders should check the endorsement on their visa to see what rights to work they have.
