Small Class Sizes
Class sizes at Albemarle are kept small. The average class is four to five students, with a maximum of eight. Tuition is very much centred on the students who are encouraged to participate fully and, most importantly, to think for themselves.

Assessment & Testing
Students are expected to take notes during class with homework being assigned at the end of each lesson. Students must complete all assignments on time and we monitor all coursework carefully to ensure that students meet their deadlines.

Our ongoing assessment programme combines weekly tests in each subject and formal mock examinations once a month. Experience demonstrates that regular testing is vital for improving examination technique.

Specialist Tutors
Our tutors are all highly qualified specialists in their subject area. They use a mixture of motivation, encouragement and confidence building to get the best out of students. Tutors focus on examination techniques and make extensive use of previous examination questions.

Hours
Classes are timetabled in 45 minute sessions between 9.00 am and 5.30pm. The college remains open daily until 7.00 pm on weekdays and is also open on Saturdays. These opening times are extended leading up to public examinations in January and June each year.

IT Skills
The college places a strong emphasis on the use of computers. Information technology is now an integral part of many academic courses and society in general. At Albemarle, all students are encouraged to develop their IT skills with tuition on spreadsheets, databases, desk-top publishing and the internet freely available.

Reports
Full attendance and sticking to assignment deadlines are crucial to exam success. Formal reports are compiled every six weeks, but personal tutors also maintain regular contact with parents and guardians on an informal basis. Parents' evenings are held in the Autumn and Spring terms, with tutors on hand to discuss students' progress.

Holiday Revision
Students are provided with revision packs to work through during the holidays
