Online Brochure

Introduction

Through a collaboration with M & D Pre-Med, who run the leading foundation programme for entry to Medicine and Dentistry in Europe and the Caribbean, Albemarle is now able to offer students a unique opportunity - the A-level Medipathway. This is primarily aimed at students who wish to combine A-level retakes with an opportunity to study Medicine or Dentistry at a number of reputable international universities including the University of Valencia in Spain. All international programmes are taught in English.

We are currently accepting applications for September 2011 entry. To register on this programme please complete the pre-interview form and our college administrator Julia Millar will then arrange for you to have a preliminary interview at the college.

What is the A level Medipathway?

This unique programme has been brought to you through a collaboration with M&D and Albemarle Independent College. It will provide support for prospective medical and dental students to re-take one or two A-Levels and continue onto the M&D Pre-Med® programme.

Although it has become increasingly difficult over the last few years for re-sit A-level students to gain places at UK medical and dental schools, it is nevertheless possible with the right advice and a strategic plan for re-sitting. Albemarle has had a 90% success rate over the last 5 years with re-sit students gaining places for direct entry to medicine and dentistry in the UK.

Course Highlights

• The first term is dedicated to re-taking up to 2 A-Levels as a whole course or individual modules with the goal of re-sitting the exams in January. This is complemented by two more M&D Pre-Med® terms at Birkbeck.
• Students are assigned a personal tutor throughout this term to develop strategies for sitting modular exams as well as giving assistance where needed.
• The first term also focuses on completing the UCAS application as well as undertaking UKCAT training
• Assessments are given at appropriate intervals during the course to track student progress and adjust tutorials as necessary.
• UKCAT training helps improve scores for medical or dental school entry.
• Personal statement writing sets UCAS applications apart from other students.
• Interview techniques ensure an outstanding first impression.
• Revision and examination technique enhance student performance.
• Weekly lectures on science-related issues deliver up-to-date medical and science news, debates and discussions
