ISI INSPECTION REPORT - APRIL 2023
Students studying A-level Art & Design and/or Photography benefit from the help and support they get from our teachers to build excellent portfolios, to gain entry to a range of degree courses including Architecture, Fashion design, Fine Art and Graphic design.
All A-level Art and Photography students have to produce a Personal Study, the subject of which is geared towards their chosen degree course area. Teachers also have a great deal of input in helping students to build and develop their individual portfolios, both in-book and digital versions. These portfolios are crucial for admission to most art- related degree courses.
Most students on our Art & Architecture programme will opt to attend one of our recommended summer courses in between their first and second years, run by one of our partner institutions, such as the prestigious Bartlett School of Architecture. Courses are primarily in London but there are opportunities to take part in courses abroad, in the south of France, Prague and Paris.
Students benefit from guest lectures on the History of Art and Architecture, which gives a grounding in the chronology of development of style, materials and techniques in two and three dimensional work, as well as greater precision in subsequent analysis which is extremely useful and akin to the first year of study at university level.
Students progress on to a wide range of Art Schools and universities including Central St Martins (UAL), Royal College of Art, UCL, Leeds and Loughborough.
