ISI INSPECTION REPORT - APRIL 2023
Our enrichment programme enables students to benefit from a wide range of extra-curricular and leisure activities, outside of their academic programme.
This list is by no means exhaustive and students can make recommendations to the Student Council if they wish to establish a new club or activity.
Through our collaboration with partner organisations such as the London School of Contemporary Piano, students are able to have individual tuition in playing a musical instrument, musical composition and singing.
The Film Club offers students the opportunity to watch films across many different genres and languages, and to engage in making short films and animations with the help of our Media Department. Students keen on improving their photography techniques are also able to participate in our highly successful Street Photography sessions, led by a variety of professionals including Eric Kim.
The production of the student magazine 'Faraday' is overseen by the student council, and students are encouraged to contribute articles, photos, puzzles and of course jokes, each year.
Each year the student body elects representatives from across the year groups at the college to voice their opinions on a wide range of issues. The student council also organises events and parties throughout the year including the highly popular Summer Ball. The reps run the common room tuck shop with all profits going to the charity of their choice.
In the Spring term, the college has an annual week-long Cultural Trip in the Spring term, generally to a European Capital or City. All students are eligible to attend and they are accompanied by a group of teaching staff. Activities planned for the week include bike tours, pizza and gelato making (Italy), tango lessons (Spain), visits to historical sites and leisure activities.
This year in addition to the planned cultural trip, students will also have the option of participating in a skiing trip during the Easter holidays.
The Team Maths Challenge (TMC) is a competition which gives pupils the opportunity to tackle a variety of engaging mathematical activities whilst developing teamwork and communication skills. Every year Albemarle enters one or more teams chosen from the College's best mathematicians.
