Albemarle Independent Private College in Central London

Safeguarding and Welfare

Albemarle College takes very seriously its duty towards all its students who have been entrusted to its care and seeks to provide a College environment where all children are safe, secure, valued, respected, and listened to. All staff have a full and active part to play in protecting students from harm. We believe that our College provides a caring, positive, safe and stimulating environment which promotes the social, physical and moral development of the individual student.

The college's Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) Beverley Mellon, oversees safeguarding within the college and will liaise with the appropriate London Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) as required. The DSL is supported by the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) Carly Stone who reports to the DSL. In line with national minimum standards, and consistent with LSCB procedures, the College has an appropriate policy on child protection and procedures allegations or suspicions of abuse. The policy is known to all staff and is be made available to parents and other stakeholders on the college's website.

Our Welfare Officer, Carly Stone, meets with all students regularly to discuss any issues relating to student welfare. Students have the opportunity to talk freely and openly. She is also available on email. The Welfare and Safety provision made by the college was deemed excellent by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) in June 2021, after their most recent inspection.
